Contacting Weston Village Primary School

Good communication between home and school is important to us. We want parents and carers to know who to contact, how to contact us and what to expect.

Contact the School Office

For general enquiries, please contact our school office:

Telephone: 01270 814848
Email: admin@weston.cheshire.sch.uk

The office can help with matters such as:

  • payments

  • school meals

  • trips and visits

  • attendance and absence

  • school events and dates

  • admissions

  • forms and general enquiries.

If you are unsure who you need to speak to, please contact the office and we will help direct your query.

If Your Query Is About Your Child

For most questions about your child, their class teacher should be your first point of contact.

This includes:

  • learning and progress

  • homework or class activities

  • friendships

  • behaviour

  • wellbeing

  • day-to-day pastoral concerns.

The easiest way to contact your child's teacher is through Class Dojo.

If a conversation would be better than a message, please ask the teacher to arrange a phone call or meeting.

Weston News

Our regular newsletter brings together key dates, school news, reminders and celebrations.

We strongly recommend that parents keep an eye on both Class Dojo and Weston News, as these are two of our main ways of keeping families up to date.

Response Times

We know that parents value prompt communication and staff will respond as soon as reasonably possible.

For emails and Class Dojo messages, we aim to provide a full response, or arrange a conversation where needed, within five working days. In most cases, responses will be much quicker.

Please telephone school if your query needs a response sooner.

Staff are not expected to monitor or respond to messages during evenings, weekends, school holidays or outside their normal working hours.

Meetings With Staff

If you would like a longer conversation about your child, we are very happy to arrange one.

Please contact your child's teacher through Class Dojo or contact the school office.

Teachers may occasionally be able to speak briefly at the end of the school day, but an appointment is usually better for anything requiring a detailed or confidential conversation.

Parents also have scheduled opportunities to discuss their child's progress during the year, including parents' evenings and the annual written report.

Respectful Communication

We want communication between home and school to be positive, respectful and focused on achieving the best outcome for children.

We ask families and staff to communicate courteously, even where there is disagreement or concern.

Abusive, threatening or discriminatory communication will be dealt with in accordance with school and Trust procedures.

Accessibility and Translation

We want every family to be able to communicate easily with school.

All of our platforms, including Class Dojo, provide translation tools for many languages and we can provide additional help or translated information where needed.

Please contact the school office if you require support accessing school communications.

Complaints

Most concerns can be resolved quickly by speaking to the appropriate member of staff.

If you wish to make a formal complaint, please follow the procedure set out in our Complaints Policy, available on the school website.
