Our school
Weston Village Primary School is a welcoming, inclusive primary school at the heart of the village of Weston, just outside Crewe.
We are fortunate to have spacious grounds that give children plenty of room to learn, play and explore. Our outdoor spaces include a large playing field, playgrounds, climbing and play equipment, an outdoor gym, Forest School areas and quieter spaces for reflection and regulation. Through our OPAL approach to play, children are encouraged to be active, creative, adventurous and sociable during their playtimes.
Inside school, we have a range of flexible spaces that help us meet different needs without separating children from the life of the school.
The Burrow is our specialist sensory curriculum space, designed to support pupils with the most complex needs.
The Den and The Nest are flexible intervention and support spaces used across a wide range of needs. They are not segregated spaces or rooms reserved only for pupils with identified SEND; children may use them at different times for pastoral support, regulation, small-group work, targeted intervention or simply when a different environment helps them to succeed.
Our Early Years provision includes dedicated indoor and outdoor learning spaces, giving our youngest children opportunities to learn through exploration, play and carefully planned adult-led teaching.
Be The Best You Can Be
Our school motto, “Be The Best You Can Be”, reflects the ambition we have for every child.
We want pupils to achieve highly, but also to develop the confidence, resilience, curiosity and consideration for others that will help them succeed beyond primary school.
Our Secrets of Success give children a shared language for these attitudes:
Try new things, Work hard, Concentrate, Push yourself, Imagine, Improve, Understand others and Don’t give up.
These are woven through school life and help children understand that success comes through effort, reflection, perseverance and positive relationships.
Learning at Weston
Our curriculum is broad, ambitious and carefully sequenced so that children build knowledge and skills over time.
We place particular importance on:
strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics
rich subject knowledge across the wider curriculum
vocabulary and communication
creativity and practical learning
physical activity, outdoor learning and sport
personal development, relationships and wellbeing
helping pupils become increasingly independent and thoughtful learners.
We maintain high expectations for all pupils while making appropriate adaptations and providing additional support where needed.
Life Beyond the Classroom
We want children to enjoy school and have opportunities to discover new interests.
Our wider offer includes clubs, sport, music, performance, Forest School, pupil leadership, visits, visitors and community events. Opportunities change over time, but our aim remains the same: to help every child try new things, build confidence and discover what they enjoy.
Our on-site wraparound provision, The Hive, offers breakfast, after-school and holiday care in a familiar school environment.
Pupil Voice and Leadership
Pupil leadership is an important part of life at Weston.
Every Year 6 pupil takes on an ambassador role, giving all of our oldest children the opportunity to contribute to school life, take responsibility and act as positive role models.
Alongside this, pupils can take on a range of other leadership responsibilities linked to different aspects of school life.
We want children to understand that leadership is about service, responsibility, listening to others and making a positive contribution to the community.
Our School Community
Strong relationships with families are an important part of Weston.
We aim to communicate openly, listen carefully and work in partnership with parents and carers so that children receive consistent support between home and school.
Friends of Weston Village Primary School also play an important role in school life, organising events, strengthening community links and raising funds that enhance pupils' experiences.
