Is your child starting Reception in September 2027? Applications for school places with Cheshire East will open soon and close on 15 January 2027.


We'd love you to come and see our school in action. Every week, a member of the senior leadership team will lead a tour for prospective families, giving you the opportunity to see our school during a normal school day and ask any questions you may have.

Governance

Our Governing Body

Weston Village Primary School has a committed Governing Body which works with school leaders and The Cornovii Trust to support the strategic development of the school.

Governors bring a range of skills, experience and perspectives from within the school and wider community. Their role is to provide support, challenge and oversight, helping to ensure that Weston continues to provide a high-quality, inclusive education for all pupils.

Our Governing Body currently includes:

  • 1 Headteacher Governor

  • 2 Parent Governors

  • 8 Community Governors

  • 2 Staff Governors

What Do Governors Do?

Governors focus on the strategic direction and effectiveness of the school rather than its day-to-day management.

Their work includes:

  • supporting and challenging school leaders

  • monitoring progress against the school's priorities

  • considering standards, outcomes and the quality of education

  • monitoring safeguarding, SEND, attendance and pupil wellbeing

  • considering how effectively resources are being used

  • helping to ensure that statutory duties and Trust expectations are met

  • contributing to the development and review of key school policies

  • representing the views and interests of the wider school community.

Governors receive reports from school leaders, visit school, meet with staff and pupils, review evidence and ask questions to help them understand how well the school is performing.

Working Within The Cornovii Trust

As an academy within The Cornovii Trust, Weston operates within the Trust's wider governance structure.

The Trust Board retains overall legal and financial responsibility for the Trust and delegates defined responsibilities to Weston's Governing Body through its governance arrangements and scheme of delegation.

This means governors provide strong local oversight while working within the wider strategic and accountability framework of The Cornovii Trust.
