Special Education Needs

My name is Emma Loveland and I am the school's SENDCo.

It is my role to ensure that the children on the Special Educational Needs (SEN) register are achieving to the best of their ability. Special Educational Needs is a legal term describing the needs of a child who has a difficulty or disability which makes learning harder for them than other children their age.

At Weston there is a wide range of strategies and resources that the staff can use to include children with special educational needs. These include provision for pupils with emotional, social and behavioural needs as well as academic needs. Nurturing is embedded throughout the school curriculum and where required, some pupils with high levels of need may follow a more personalised curriculum based on individual need. We will work with you, the class teacher and your child to ensure their needs are met. Sometimes we will approach outside agencies for further support.

At Weston, we always work closely with parents and, when needed, other outside agencies and our local authority key worker to support the children and ensure their needs are met. If you have any queries or concerns about your child’s progress or special educational needs I am happy to speak with you; the door is always open!

I am here to support you and your children.

I can be contacted via eloveland@weston.cheshire.sch.uk or 01270 814848.
