The School Council – Anti-bullying Initiative

The School Council have been working hard this year to promote the anti-bullying message throughout the school. One of the ideas generated from discussions, was to have a friendship stop within the KS1 playground. A place where children would be seen if they couldn’t find anybody to play with, or if they would like to initiate a game for others to join in. It has been a great success so far; with children not standing for long before a helpful hand comes their way.

In addition to the friendship stop, another idea from the School Councillors was to have older children take on ‘Playground Leader‘ roles. These children have completed some play leader training and now give up some of their own break time to act as role models for our youngest learners. They are doing a fantastic job and have initiated many classic playground games for children to join in and enjoy. You may spot them in the playground as the new, extremely stylish, orange vests mean they are very visible! Another example of how kind, thoughtful and considerate the children at Weston are.
