How the heart works.
What a fun and interactive way to learn about the heart today in Year 6! We headed outside for a hands-on activity to explore how the heart works. Eagles class were divided into roles as the heart, lungs, and body to demonstrate how blood is pumped around the body.
We learnt there are many tubes, called blood vessels, coming in and out of the heart. The blood vessels carry blood around the body. If they carry blood away from the heart, they are called arteries; if they carry blood into the heart, they are called veins. We used red oxygenated blood and blue deoxygenated blood to show the direction of blood flow and how the heart keeps everything moving!

The children really enjoyed being part of the action, and it was a fantastic way to understand the heart as a strong muscle and vital organ.
Next up, we're diving deeper into the science to investigate what blood is made up of! Stay tuned for more fun discoveries!
