Cri-du-Chat day - 5th May

On Friday 5 May it is Cri-du-Chat day. If you aren't aware, one of the children in Turquoise class has this syndrome. It's also know as 5p- (minus) syndrome and it is a chromosomal condition. In the same spirit as our recent observance of Down's Syndrome day, we intend to mark the day and further raise awareness of the condition on 5 May by wearing socks (ideally stripy and long), with one pulled right up and one pulled down, to represent the one whole and one deleted chromosome that results in the genetic disorder. We will take the opportunity on the day to talk about the condition with all of the children in school and continue to promote and value diversity and celebrate difference in all its manifestations.
