School Closure

Dear Parents

I have given a lot of information over the last few days regarding the school closure. I send this to make it clear to all that school will be closed from the end of today for the foreseeable future. A very small group of children will continue to come to school and we have spoken with all of their parents regarding the arrangements.

It has been an incredibly strange day today. We don't know if school will resume before the summer. If it doesn't then we have waved goodbye to our Year 6s for the last time. If this is the case, we will see them again - Mrs Bate spoke to me yesterday about arranging a September prom so that we can give the children the send off they deserve.

The children should engage as much as possible with their home learning. This is particularly important as it will be some of their only contact with their friends and teachers. If the closure continues for a drawn out period, it is likely to impact on the children's mental health and emotional wellbeing. Having a routine and staying active is really crucial. I have attached a list of organisations who provide support for children's mental health and welfare. Over the coming days I will provide you with more resources to support you and your child during your time together at home.

Please look after yourselves too. If you do your bit by socially distancing from others, this could take its toll on you. Retain a good routine and stay in close contact with family and friends. I am always available if you need anyone to talk to or exchange emails with so please don't hesitate to get in touch if you are struggling or need support of any nature, from column addition to emotional support to toilet roll. I haven't got a stash by the way, but I'm here to serve and support and very much on your team.

I'll be in regular contact

Take care and stay safe
