Constitution of The Governing Body

The governing body of WVPS is made up of 12 governors with the following structure:

• 1 Headteacher

• 3 parent governors

• 6 community governors

• 2 staff governors

What do governing bodies decide?

School governors and the head teacher are responsible for the overall educational and financial health of the school and will make decisions about:

• setting and monitoring the school’s aims and policies;

• agreeing and monitoring the school’s budget;

• appointing staff, including the head teacher; and

• ensuring the school premises are maintained and improving the school’s environment.

Governors make sure that:

• the standards of achievement are raised;

• the National Curriculum is taught;

• the school provides for all its pupils including those from ethnic minority backgrounds and with special needs; and

• the school encourages pupils’ spiritual, moral and cultural development.
