The Governing Body is made up of:

five parent representatives,

two L.E.A. representatives,

three representatives co‚Äźopted from the community,

one representative of the school staff,

the headteacher.



What do governing bodies decide ?


School governors and the head teacher are responsible for the overall educational and financial health of the school and will make decisions about :


·    setting and monitoring the school’s aims and policies;

·    agreeing and monitoring the school’s budget;

·    appointing staff, including the head teacher; and

·   ensuring the school premises are maintained and improving the school’s environment.


Governors make sure that :


·    the standards of achievement are raised;

·    the National Curriculum is taught;

·   the school provides for all its pupils including those from ethnic minority backgrounds and with special needs; and

·   the school encourages pupils’ spiritual, moral and cultural development.
